SYTYCD – Top Twelve
So this week was So You Think You Can Dance top 12 and FINALLY they impressed me! So far this season for me (aside of the first episode) has been sort of mediocre. I haven’t been impressed really… at least not as impressed as I was last season. Though I may be biased because I truly did love Joshua and Katee (they are still the best dancers in my eyes).
Anyway, this week I have to admit… the top twelve finally impressed me! I’ve been waiting for them to break out of their shells and they finally delivered. One couple in particular, who in my opinion, has been the best so far in this competition is Brandon and Jeanette. They’ve performed every dance every week very well. Have their dances been memorable though? Not really. But this week, they FINALLY got a routine that put them on the board, nationally. And that routine was a routine done by none other than Wade Robson himself. They danced a jazz routine to the tune of Ruby Blue by Roisin Murphy. It was so fun and exciting! Here it is again for anyone who missed it.
Another couple that I think did really well was Ade and Melissa. And to be honest I was REALLY surprised they were in the bottom three. I thought their disco was probably the best disco I’ve seen on this show, but again, I don’t think they’ve done anything really stands out for me. Their technique is spot on but I think their routines have been ok.
Kayla and Kupono I think were the second couple to steal the show this week with their Mia Michaels routine. WOW. Talk about powerful! I absolutely loved loved loved this routine and have watched it I don’t even know how many times. This is the best routine that Mia has had this season so far (but I still think nothing compares to Katee and Joshua’s Adele – “Hometown Glory” routine). And here is that video for anyone who missed it.
Now, an honorable mention must be made for last weeks dance by Kayla and Kupono. They danced a Sonya Tayeh routine to the tune of Blue Foundation – “Eyes On Fire”. And I feel this was Sonya’s best routine this season.
As far as the rest of the dancers… they all did well with the exception of Randi and Evan. I am not a fan of them but it seems the judges are. I hope they really perform next week because they have yet to impress me.

So here’s something interesting that I just noticed… you let me know if you noticed it too… is that Mia Michaels routine for Kayla and Kupono was VERY similar to Sonya Tayeh’s routine for them last week. There were a lot of similarities in the routines… or is it just me?
